Research visit to Kaunas

At the very end of November, as Kaunas said goodbye to the title of European Capital of Culture, the curators of the 14th Kaunas Biennial and a group of artists visited Lithuania. The most important goal of the research visit was getting to know the multi-layered history of Kaunas, the former textile factories, various districts of the city, Lithuanian traditions and the community of artists living and creating here.

The guests had time to visit Kaunas 2022 exhibitions, take part in the closing events, and most importantly feel the extremely wintry, but friendly and colorful rhythm of the city.

Artists Yonamine Miguel Fernandes Sebastiao (Algola), Andro Eradze (Georgia), Nino Kvrivishvili (Georgia), Admire Kamudzengerere (Zimbabwe), Ibrahim Mahama (Ghana), Hamedine Kane (Senegal) left with ideas for future artworks for Kaunas.
