PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES FOR SCHOOL STAFF

Kaunas Biennial and course organiser Learning through Experience follow the Erasmus+ guidance to offer teachers opportunities for personal, socio-educational and professional development by designing balanced and culturally rich continuous professional development courses.

Taking the course beyond Europe broadens our understanding of the world, its problems and possible solutions since we explore inter-connectedness at first-hand. Experiencing the cultural, geographical, natural and economical diversity of European Union, especially in its remote areas, brings enormous added value to school projects and Erasmus+ programme itself.

GREEN TRAVEL is fully supported by course organisers:

• Participants are advised to use low CO2 emission travel to arrive to Paris and they are encouraged to participate in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) contribution.

• Recommended eco-friendly accommodation supports recycling and green energy for water and air conditioning.

• Course experiences and activities are organised with sustainability in mind:

o support local economy (food from farmers, handicrafts, local restaurants),

o preserve biodiversity (learn about sea life, forests, coastal areas, take part in nature preservation activity)

o support local culture (numerous learning experiences led by cultural activists).

MOSAIC OF COMMUNICATION (MOC)

Eight-day course Guadeloupe, France and six-day course in Kaunas, Lithuania

• Effective communication and multilingualism

• Inclusion, immigration and language

• Communication competence

• Craft of mosaic making

Please note: this course runs in two locations – Guadeloupe, France and Nida, Lithuania.

This course explores communication in multilingual classroom through the craft of mosaic making. Each of us are individual pieces of the community mosaic. We can observe a colour and a shape of a single piece, but only assembled pieces reveal a meaningful message thus achieving effective communication and inclusion.

For the course in Kaunas, Lithuania we are cooperating with the Day Care Center “Korys” for the disabled people and will be working with them in the afternoons on the practical part. This adds a deeper level of experience – understanding the needs for communication, dignity, integration from the point of view of a disabled person. The idea of the course expands over the multilingual and multicultural communication competence into holistic approach of integration through communication.

The course is enriched by eTwinning project “Mosaic of Communication” https://school-education.ec.europa.eu/en/etwinning/projects/mosaic-communication-0/twinspace/pages which serves for monitoring own learning, visibility and dissemination.
