Mixed media installation with photographs, sound and sculptural objects

Commissioned for the Kaunas Biennial, 2021

Kaunas is the title of SetP Stanikas’ visual and sound installation. Here, the artist duo paints an evocative multi-sensory portrait of a place and its tumultuous history, filtered through their memories and familial connections to the city. A large photograph of the artist’s great aunt is animated by the sounds of Lithuanian, Russian and French songs, reminding us of the upheavals and transformation witnessed by the city and its inhabitants.
