Artūras Morozovas (Kaunas, Lithuania, 1984) is a documentary photographer based in Kaunas, Lithuania. During the last ten years he has covered some of the biggest events in Lithuania and abroad, and presented sensitive social issues in conflict or post-conflict areas. He started his photojournalist’s career at a news agency while still studying BA Art History and Criticism at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas. Artūras has documented military conflicts in the Caucasus, Palestine and Ukraine, the migration crisis to Europe, covered many stories in Russia and former soviet countries. His works were published in world-famous media, such as The Guardian, The New York Times, Der Spiegel, Paris Match, Al Jazeera, etc. Five years of work experience in covering various Lithuanian and foreign affairs acted as a stimulus for Artūras to investigate the humanitarian side of these events. Artūras is one of the co-founders of Nanook, the first multimedia documentary platform in Lithuania, which uncovers stories from the war in Ukraine to the women’s correctional house in Lithuania, from the sea nomads in Malaysian waters to the fight for water in Palestine. Currently, Artūras is focused on documenting the topics of social exclusion and culture of poverty in Lithuania.

Artūras has participated in group exhibitions and festivals, including Photo London, Belarus Photo Festival and Kaunas Photo, and has organised solo exhibitions at White Space Gallery (London, UK), Culture centre Panke (Berlin, Germany), NATO Headquarters (Brussels, Belgium), Kaunas Photographers’ Gallery (Kaunas, Lithuania) and Šiauliai Photography Museum (Šiauliai, Lithuania). His works have won some prestigious awards, including the annual Lithuanian Press Photography Award. Artūras’ photographs and video footage are inclued in the director Evgeny Afineevsky’s documentary Winter on Fire Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom, which in 2016 was nominted in the Best Documentary category for an Oscar.
