Take a Stone and Bring It to the Door of 12 Ugniagesių Street. 2017

A. Mapu g. 11, Kaunas
Stones, instruction

My name was Adina. My Father’s name was Samuel. He lived at 12 Ugniagesių Street in Kaunas. But one day in 1941 he was no longer there. He wasn’t anywhere anymore. And my name was changed, to save me. So there is no Adina anymore. Please take a stone and bring it to my father’s door.

Within the Jewish faith, it is customary to leave a small stone on a grave. It serves as a sign to others that someone has visited the grave. It also enables visitors to partake in the mitzvah tradition of commemorating the burial and the deceased. Stones are fitting symbols of the lasting presence of the deceased’s life and the permanence of memory.
